Internet Browsers
Introduction
Most computer users will use an Internet browser everyday for many different tasks,
so it's important that you find one that you're comfortable to use. The
majority of computer users use Microsoft Internet Explorer, but this is not necessarily
because it's the best. Internet Explorer comes pre-installed on computers that run
the Microsoft Windows operating systems, and is in fact impossible to remove.
There are several increasingly popular alternatives to Internet Explorer, but Surrey
Computing highly recommend Mozilla Firefox - the most popular alternative.
Mozilla Firefox
Operating in a similar but more user friendly way than Internet Explorer, Firefox
was the first alternative web browser to start using tabbed browsing - allowing
multiple websites to be opened simultaniously, without using up lots of memory.
Firefox also has a large community of extension developers, creating free add-on's
to enhance and add features to the browser.

Add-on's
Firefox allows users to add extra features that don't come as standard functions,
and there are add-on's available for just about anything. Whether you're
a perfectionist and want to monitor your bookmarks for duplicates, or you want to
prevent websites from running potentially unsafe code in your browser, so you can
be sure your browser won't be exploited - it's all here.
